The owner chef ,Jun Furukawa, was awarded by Michelin at the Ramen shop, MEN-EIJI, in 2016 Hokkaido Japan. Just opened the Australian version of MEN-EIJI, as ZURO ZURO Ramen Bar at Burleigh Heads, QLD.

It is very impressive that his passion is from the farm to the table, using local ingredients mainly from Queensland. The noodles are the one and only, made from scratch by his hand every morning.

Jun says “I started because I wanted people in Australia to eat real Ramen.”

More than just ramen, they also serve Japanese tapas such as Kushikatsu, namely deep fried skewers, Karaage, which means Japanese fried chicken, and a variety of Japanese beverages including beers and cocktails.

Jun Furukawa – Michilen Awarded Ramen Noodle Chef

Born in Hokkaido, Japan 1977
Interested in the diversity of Ramen Noodle , entered the Ramen Noodle
industry at the age of 20.
Trained at famous restaurants in Sapporo Hokkaido and Tokyo.
In 2006 Opened Men EIJI in Hiragishi, Toyohira-ku, Sapporo Hokkaido.
Incorporating techniques from dishes other than Ramen,
Developing a new Ramen that has never existed before.
Be the first to make homemade noodles in Sapporo, Hokkaido
advocating the importance of noodles

2006 Opened first Ramen Restaurant (Men Eiji) in Sapporo Hokkaido
2008 Awarded 3 rd place on Tabelog (sort of Tripadviser) in Japan
2009 Awarded 1 st place in Social Media Sapporo Hokkaido
2014 Awarded 1 st place on TV show in Hokkaido
Awarded 1 st place as Champion of hot contest in Sapporo Hokkaido
2016 Awarded MICHELIN Bib Gourmand
Developed new Ramen Noodle with famous American Restaurant Chef in

He involved this restaurant business from the very beginning and is in charge of marketing with customer care.
He usually is not at the shop but hangs around at least twice a week. Please speak out to him when you see him at the shop.

(Left)Tuyoshi – Shop Manager

He has been working in famous Yakitori Bar at Naka Meguro in Tokyo for long time. He can serve almost all Izaka ya tapas and he is able to make Tonkotsu Ramen. He is a multi-tasking player in our shop. He is always thinking of new dishes for Australian customers and  makes an effort everyday.

Tsuyoshi is not only a professional Chef but he is also a very friendly manager there. Please just say Hi to him when you visit us.

Kurumi – Member of House Front

She is our start up member.
She studied English at Tront Canada a few years ago and back in Japan due to the Corona Pandemic.
During the pandemic, she got a job as Scuba Instructor in Okinawa Japan, then she will come over to Gold Coast and join our team.
She is now working as Chief of House Front and is able to serve nice cocktails.
