This week we’re announcing four brand new Washoku Lovers membership benefits just for you! In keeping with a Summer theme, they’re super fresh and healthy, yum!

The first is from Toshiya at CremorneChef Toshiya‘s signature salmon carpaccio with truffle oil. There’s a unique washoku spin on this traditionally Italian dish so you definitely should make the trip to check it out. From our interview with him, Chef Toshiya says “With each experience, washoku is mixed with different food genres and there’s Japanese fusion now, the meaning of washoku isn’t the same, it’s new with every new combination and every new chef”, and this is the type of flow you can see through the whole Toshiya menu. Every dish is washoku, no doubt about that. But they’re all very interesting with each dish usually having a mix of another cuisine in it. It’s a foodie’s dream, so make a booking today.

At Toshiya we do sushi, deep fried foods, and grilled foods. There’s not really any soy sauce, so I think this results in a kind of fusion food. I’d really like it if Washoku Lovers would come to my restaurant so I can give them food that will definitely show them some new senses!” Chef Toshiya is quite convincing when it comes to getting people to try Japanese fusion!

Our second membership benefit for this week is from Mappen in the CBD. A little bit closer than Cremorne, this is a good option if you’re looking for a fast and cheap lunch. Mappen is a CBD favourite for uni students and office workers alike thanks to its cafeteria style ordering system. Grab a tray, order what you’d like from the menu, then slide your tray along and pick up any extras you want to add. The portions are big and the cost is low so you’ll be doubly satisfied.

Mappen is a noodle bar, but the Washoku Lovers benefit will help you digest the carb heavy soba and udon and focus on more health conscious options. Rainbow Udon includes ontama (soft boiled egg), seaweed salad, sweet corn, grated radish, kimchi, and other vegetables.

Our other two specials come from Oiden, which is the Washoku Lovers Selection, a half and half special with rice, Japanese curry, beef hash, ontama, and a miso soup or honey lemon drink for $9.90. Deruma also has a $9.90 Washoku Lovers Selection with a cheese and hamburger steak curry over rice with ontama and your choice of drink (choose from iced green tea, iced mugi-cha [roasted barley tea], or iced lemon tea). Deruma’s selection is the perfect option for a hot day, their teas are deliciously cold and refreshing and the meal offered in the selection is served hot but mixes really well with hot weather.
